Nature of Awards
The Regional Education Awards were established by the Regional Education Office
in the School of Medicine to recognize excellence in teaching, administration, and
mentorship in community sites.
Nomination Criteria
The Regional Education Awards are awarded annually to preceptors in the
community who teach or mentor Queen’s medical students and residents, or have
contributed to the design and/or development of educational material.
- Teaching Award - The Excellence in Teaching Award was created to recognize community preceptors who have contributed significantly to advancing teaching and learning at thedistributed sites.
- Mentorship Award - The nominee will be identified as a role model in supporting, encouraging, and promoting educational, professional and personal development to colleagues and learners.
- Education Development Award - Created to reward major administrative contributions to education or innovative curriculum development in community sites.
- Team Education Award - Created to recognize groups, including interprofessional teams, involved in the advancement of medical education in community sites.
Eligibility
All preceptors who teach Queen’s School of Medicine residents and/or clerks in
community sites are eligible for any of the 4 awards.
Guidelines
Queen’s faculty, students or staff can make nominations. Nomination forms must be
submitted to the Regional Education Office at Queen’s University by March 1.
The awards will be presented to recipients at a mutually convenient time and place.
