Who We Are

The Clinical Teachers' Association of Queen's University (CTAQ) is the professional association representing clinical faculty who contribute to patient care, medical education, research, and scholarly activity through Queen's University and its affiliated teaching hospitals.

CTAQ was established to advance and promote the welfare of clinical teachers and to provide a collective voice on matters affecting academic medicine, clinical practice, teaching, and faculty appointments. CTAQ also works to safeguard the commitment to high-quality patient care and medical education while supporting research and scholarly activity across the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Our members include physicians and clinicians from a wide range of specialties who share a commitment to educating future healthcare professionals, advancing medical knowledge, and strengthening healthcare delivery in our communities.

Through advocacy, governance, research funding, and member engagement, CTAQ helps ensure that clinical teachers remain active partners in shaping the future of academic medicine at Queen's University.

History

A Legacy of Supporting Clinical Teachers

For more than 30 years, CTAQ has represented the interests of clinical teachers at Queen's University. Founded in 1994, the Association was created to ensure that clinicians involved in teaching, patient care, and academic scholarship had a strong and independent voice within the evolving landscape of academic medicine.

From its earliest days, CTAQ's mandate has extended beyond advocacy alone. The Association has worked to protect the vital connection between clinical care and medical education, support scholarly activity within the Faculty of Health Sciences, and promote the professional well-being of clinical faculty members.

Today, CTAQ continues this tradition through member representation, participation in SEAMO governance, support for research and scholarship, and a commitment to strengthening the academic mission of Queen's University.
