The Postgraduate Medical Education Office provides a registration rebate for residents in their final year of training who finish before the end of the academic year. There is no rebate for completing in June as that is the end of the academic year. Rebates are not provided for time away on a leave (e.g., educational leave, maternity leave, parental, medical leave) as training status is maintained throughout.
Residents are required to request a rebate of their registration fee after they have completed their program and within 30 days of completing residency training (e.g., complete training on August 25, submit request between August 25 and September 25). Partial blocks are not eligible for reimbursement.
Based on a registration fee of $945 for the 2024-2025 academic year, trainees will receive a rebate on the following formula:
- $945/13 = $72.69 per block
- $72.69 x number of blocks of training = X
- $945 - X = amount to be reimbursed.
Example:
Trainee completes 3 blocks:
- $72.69 x 3 = $218.07
- $945 – $218.07 = $726.93 to be reimbursed to the trainee.
Trainees should use this form to request a rebate.
