The Postgraduate Medical Education Office provides a registration rebate for residents in their final year of training who complete their training before the end of the academic year. Residents who complete training in June are not eligible for a rebate, as June marks the end of the academic year.
Rebates are not provided for time away due to leaves (e.g., educational leave, maternity leave, parental, medical leave, etc) as training status is maintained throughout the leave.
Residents may request a rebate of their registration fee only after they have completed their program and within 30 days of completing residency training (e.g., complete training on August 25, submit request between August 25 and September 25).
Late submissions and partial blocks are not eligible for reimbursement.
Based on a registration fee of $980 for the 2025–2026 academic year, the rebate is calculated as follows:
- $980/13 = $75.38 per block
- $75.38 x number of blocks of training = X
- $980 - X = Rebate Amount
Example:
Trainee completes 3 blocks:
- $75.38 x 3 = $226.15
- $980 – $226.38 = $753.85 to be reimbursed to the trainee.
Trainees should use this form to request a rebate.
