Dr. Melanie Walker is the Research Scientist and Resident Research Director for the Department of Emergency Medicine at Queen’s University. She is an Assistant Professor with the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Public Health Sciences. Dr. Walker's research interests include health equity, the social determinants of health and vulnerable populations. She is the co-Principal Investigator on the RECONNECT program of research that aims to better understand the emergency department care experiences among a variety of equity-deserving groups in an effort to identify and implement quality improvement interventions. She has been the Course Director and primary lecturer of MEDS 112, Critical Appraisal, Research and Lifelong Learning, since 2014 and leads a research fundamentals curriculum for emergency medicine residents. Dr. Walker graduated from Queen’s University with a PhD in epidemiology (2014) and a postdoctoral fellowship in knowledge translation and implementation science (2015). Google Scholar
