Proximal ulnar fracture
- These fractures are sometimes difficult to detect due to incomplete ossification. Watch for the ossification centre of the olecranon which can be mistaken for a fracture in adolescents.
- Mechanisms of injury include elbow dislocations, falls on the outstretched extremity, or direct blows to the olecranon. These usually occur with a sail sign.
