Reflection

As a team, reflect on your thought processes as you completed the activities associated with this module, then explore the following discussion questions:

1. The OT role in pain management seems to differ among practice settings and the research literature. Why do you think this is the case? How could you, as a future therapist, explain to members of the clinical and academic settings you will be a part of what OTs can offer when practicing with the chronic pain population? Do you think this is necessary?

2. When deciding upon what home modification or equipment you would recommend for Pauline, what circumstances did you take into account? What types of reasoning did the circumstances that you considered reflect?

3. How did Pauline's various diagnoses and circumstances inform how you considered her future and present level of functioning in a variety of domains (ie: psychoemotional, physical, cognitive, etc.)? Why do you think it is important for an OT to consider such aspects of a clients' functioning when making recommendations?
