AS Student Awards

Awards Committee

  • Chaired by the VP Internal
  • Composed of 10 student volunteers from any year
  • Decision about award recipients is made by a majority in a yes/ no vote, with the minimum number of votes cast being 6/10 members (in case of abstentions)
  • No award nominee can sit on the awards committee for the award for which they are nominated

All AS Awards winners are selected at the end of each academic year by open call nomination (non-athletic) or points submission (athletic). The winners are announced in April or May at one of the following events: AS Spring General Meeting, AS Formal, Queen’s Medicine Commencement, or an event during C3 for the graduating awards.

 

  • This award is given annually to the Qmed students in years 1,2 and 3 who have accumulated more than 20 points using the Letter M points system (as outlined in the constitution) in the given year
  • This award is given annually to graduating Qmed students who have accumulated more than 20 points using Letter M points system over all four years
  • Award: Letter M pin, no monetary association
  • This award is given to an individual who has contributed greatly to the intramural teams of Medicine and/or the Intercollegiate teams of Queen’s University, or who has promoted athletics or athletic activities at Queen’s University
  • Selected by the Athletic Officers at the recommendation of the 4th year co-presidents
  • Reserved for a graduating student
  • Award: Name engraved on the Aesculapian Cup, no monetary association
  • It will be given to the male and female in each pre-clerk class who have accumulated the most points over the year
  • Identified by the Athletics Officers using the Letter M points
  • Award: Names engraved on the Aesculapian Trophy, no monetary association
  • Award of Merit is given to students who deserve special recognition for their efforts and activities that have been considered to be “above and beyond the call of duty
  • Nominations can be made by any student
  • There is no minimum or maximum number awarded in a given year
  • Selection made by the Awards Committee
  • Award: Certificate, no monetary association
  • The Aesculapian Award is the highest tribute paid to a member of the Aesculapian Society for valuable service rendered within the University community in non-academic activities.
  • Nominations can be made by any student
  • There is no minimum or maximum number awarded in a given year.
  • Reserved for a graduating student
  • Selection made by the graduating class
  • Award: Certificate, name engraved on the plaque, no monetary association
  • This Award shall be awarded to any one medical student in any year who, by considerable sacrifice and effort, has made the greatest contribution to the welfare of all medical students or the greater community during the term of office of the retiring Council
  • Nominations can be made by any student
  • Selection made by the Awards Committee
  • Award: Certificate, name engraved on the plaque, no monetary association
