Summer 2022 Clinical Experience
The Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation is offering a funded summer clinical experience during the months of June, July and August (minimum 4, maximum 8 weeks). This immersive experience is typically reserved for a Queen’s University second year medical student, however first year medical students may also be considered.
The student will gain experience in rehabilitation programs, including: acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputee, stroke and general musculoskeletal rehabilitation.

Under the supervision of each of the seven attending Physiatrists, the student will attend ambulatory clinics in the various areas of rehabilitation, physical medicine and electromyography.

The student will also have an opportunity to participate in inpatient rounds with the interdisciplinary team and follow inpatients throughout their rehabilitation stay.

In addition to learning about the practice of PM&R, there will be ample opportunity to improve neuromusculoskeletal clinical skills.
The student is expected to make a presentation on a clinical topic to the members of the department at the end of their employment, and will be encouraged to work on a submission to the Canadian Association of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation medical student essay contest: http://www.capmr.ca/2-uncategorised/303-medical-student-essay-contest.
