The Heart and Stroke Foundation Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) program is designed to teach health care providers the skills to resuscitate a patient who is pre-arrest, in cardiac arrest, and post-arrest. The course utilizes a combination of didactic lessons and practical teaching sessions focusing on cardiovascular emergencies. Upon successful completion of the ACLS course the participants are provided a certification card, valid for 2 years, stating they are ACLS providers.

This fast-paced course allows the experienced BLS provider (those who are confident in their BLS skills through regular use in their work in the ED, CCU, ICU on code team, or paramedics and first responders) the opportunity to demonstrate knowledge through written and skills assessment in a concentrated program. Successful completion of this two hour 15 minute course (approximate time) allows students to renew their BLS course completion card.

The Trauma Nursing Core Course is designed by nurses for nurses. The intent of this course is to provide nurses with basic knowledge and a standardized approach for the care of trauma patients. It is intended to enhance cognitive skills, sharpen technical skills and provide a foundation for future learning. Upon completion of the course, the participants will be able to perform rapid, initial assessment of the trauma patient. Participants will be able to identify injuries, institute appropriate life-saving interventions, assess patients responses to resuscitation and communicate with other team members.
