She is independent in all of her activities of daily living including cooking and light cleaning. Her washer and dryer are in the basement and so she organizes her laundry into frequent, light loads to make this easier. For the past few years, her daughter and son-in-law have helped her with home maintenance including cutting the grass, shovelling the snow as well as general home repairs and upkeep.

Mrs. Ferguson drives a 10-year old automatic Honda Civic, however she confines herself to short trips in town and prefers the train if she visits friends in a neighbouring town.
