Seeking Volunteers for the Kingston Chapter of the Canadian Association for Girls in Science

Released September 05th, 2012 by Andrew Sim

My name is Shannon and I am one of the Coordinators for the Kingston chapter of the Canadian Association for Girls in Science (CAGIS). CAGIS is a science outreach program for girls aged 7-16 that is dedicated to promoting science and engineering among young women. Chapters meet on a monthly basis to visit the workplaces of women and men in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The events are 1.5 - 2 hours in length, and are full of fun, hands-on activities and experiments. Volunteers are needed to help plan and host fun monthly events for our chapter.

CAGIS is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to participate in and coordinate the Kingston chapter. Volunteering with CAGIS would be a great opportunity for enthusiastic science-minded students to volunteer and inspire young women to pursue a career in science.

We will be hosting an information session/meet and greet with the current volunteers and anyone interested in volunteering on Thursday September 13th at 6pm in the Stauffer Library (Room 020A – go down the spiral stair case, walk straight to the end of the library, turn left and walk to the end). Please RSVP to CAGISKingston@gmail.com if you plan on attending. If anyone is interested in volunteering with CAGIS they can send their resume and three references (two professional and one personal) to me at:CAGISKingston@gmail.com by the end of the day on Tuesday September 18th. For more information about CAGIS, please feel free to contact me, or visit our website at www.cagis.ca.

Thank you,

Shannon Decker
