Clinical Presentation

CTS typically presents insidiously beginning with tingling paraesthesias then progressing to numbness and anaesthesia and finally motor impairment. In terms of symptom temporality, patients typically complain of nocturnal symptoms that progress to intermittent daytime symptoms and finally constant symptoms.

The occupational and medical histories are important elements in establishing a correct diagnosis and formulating an appropriate treatment plan for patients presenting with pain, numbness, and tingling in the upper extremity.
