Tasks

Learn more about DrugPoints System and prescription drugs by answering the following questions.

1. Find the drug monograph for Zocor. What is the generic name of the drug? Is the monograph for this drug listed by its brand or generic name? Why would a physician prescribe this drug? Is it okay for patients to eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while taking this drug?

Note: When searching for drug information in citation databases like EMBASE and Medline, it is recommended that you search using the generic drug name as they are often subject headings. If the drug you are interested in is not a subject heading, you can conduct a keyword search with the generic and brand names of the drug. The class to learn about search strategies for finding drug information in the EMBASE and Medline databases will take place on January 18, 2011.
