Undergraduate Medical Education

"Our mission is to advance our tradition of preparing excellent physicians and leaders in health care, we embrace a spirit of inquiry and innovation in education and research."

The School of Medicine offers a four-year program leading to the degree of Doctor of Medicine. This program must meet all the requirements for accreditation and prepare graduates for postgraduate training leading to licensure and certification. Its special strengths are related to the opportunities for close, personal interactions between students and faculty members and for students to obtain particularly relevant, extensive, hands-on clinical experience under supervision, especially in ambulatory settings. There is a great potential for students to benefit from the integration of the clinical and basic sciences in the curriculum and from increased collaboration in education among the clinical disciplines.

Our future holds promise as one of Canada's leading medical schools with ongoing curricular review, the increased use of medical education technology and the distribution of our programs into the sites around southeastern Ontario. Our graduates are highly competitive and marketable, excelling in the practice of the specialty of their choice.
