Fellowships Directory

Queen’s University Division of Orthopaedic Surgery offers clinical fellowships in a variety of subspecialty areas including upper extremity and microvascular surgery, arthroplasty, spine and trauma. One year fellowships are available and successful applicants will participate in academic sessions, research and teaching in addition to clinical responsibilities. In general, the fellowships offer some flexibility and can be structured to meet the requirements of the candidate’s anticipated career path. Funding is available through the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery and Assistant’s Fees. Applicants should contact the Clinical Fellowship Director or the individual fellowship preceptor listed below.

CLINICAL FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Upper Extremity and Microvascular Surgery:

This fellowship offers the candidate a broad clinical experience in upper extremity and microvascular surgery. There is abundant opportunity for research and the fellow will be responsible for formal and informal resident teaching.

Adult Lower Extremity Reconstruction:

A large number of primary hip and knee arthroplasty cases are combined with revision cases and non arthroplasty reconstruction to afford the candidate a well rounded clinical experience. Resident teaching is an integral part of the fellowship in addition to a research paper suitable for publication.

Spine:

This fellowship predominantly focuses on adult spine with ample opportunity for exposure to paediatric spine if the candidate desires. The Spine Service enjoys an excellent working relationship with the Division of Neurosurgery to further enhance the candidate’s clinical experience. The fellow will be encouraged to be actively involved in resident teaching and research and is expected to produce at least one project suitable for presentation / publication.

Orthopaedic Trauma:

The Trauma Fellowship offers the candidate broad clinical experience in orthopaedic traumatology in a tertiary setting. Clinical experience will include adult and paediatric trauma, spine, pelvis and acetabulum, periarticular fractures and posttraumatic reconstruction. Weekly Trauma Rounds and resident teaching are an integral part of the fellow’s experience. The fellow is expected to complete and present / publish at least one research project.
