Who we are

The Southeastern Ontario Medical Organization (“SEAMO”) is an association whose members are: the
Clinical Teachers' Association of Queen’s University,
Kingston General Hospital, The Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph of the
Hotel Dieu Hospital Kingston,
Providence Continuing Care Centre (St. Mary’s of the Lake Hospital) and
Queen’s University. The members individually and collectively are concerned with medical education, basic and applied health research, and the provision of clinical services to the population served by the Southeastern Ontario Academic Health Sciences Centre (“SEOHSC”).
SEAMO was created to establish policies that enable the delivery of clinical service, health professional education, health related research, and medical leadership related to the Alternative Funding Plan Agreement (AFP) between the members of SEAMO, the
Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (“MoHLTC”) and the
Ontario Medical Association ("OMA".
The AFP has provided SEAMO with a funding “envelope” which replaces a variety of traditional sources of funding for academic medicine. This includes a replacement of fee-for-service funding generated by clinical activity.
