Researchers, especially those new to Queen’s University, should visit the Office of Research Services (ORS) website - http://www.queensu.ca/ors/index.html. The ORS provides advice and administrative support services for university and hospital researchers, and is an integral part of all grant and contract development and applications. Before an application can be submitted to a funding agency, it must be reviewed and approved by the Office of Research Services.
The Office of Research Services (ORS) is a valuable source of information about funding opportunities. Researchers are encouraged to join the Funding Opportunities listserve so they receive timely notices about funding news and opportunities- http://www.queensu.ca/ors/fundingsources/fundinglistserv.html
Each year the Faculty of Health Sciences and Kingston General Hospital run competitions for various sources of funding made available from faculty research funds and hospital foundation funds. Deadlines for applications are normally mid-January.
For information on the review process and funds available, go to: http://healthsci.queensu.ca/assets/GrantApplications2011.doc. To access the application form, download the Application form for Grant from Faculty of Health Sciences Research Funds and Kingston General Hospital Research Application for Grant from Foundation Funds
Researchers interested or involved in clinical research in one of Queen’s affiliated hospitals (Kingston General Hospital, Hotel Dieu Hospital, Providence Care) are encouraged to visit the KGH Research website - http://www.kgh.on.ca/en/research/researchatkgh/Pages/default.aspx to explore the resources and information available there.
