We look forward to working with you on many of our initiatives
being passed on from the QUIPPED Project.
- The QUIPPED Team
Health care professionals have traditionally been trained within their own disciplines, with little if any exposure to students in other professions. It has been recognized, however, that if health care professionals are expected to work together and share expertise in a team environment, their education and training should teach them about how to work effectively in an inter-professional team (Romanow, 2002).
Changing the way health professionals are educated is key to achieving system change and ensuring that health professionals have the necessary knowledge and training to work effectively in inter-professional teams across the continuum of care. Health Canada responded to this need by creating the Interprofessional Education for Collaborative Patient-Centred Practice (IECPCP) Initiative, through which the QUIPPED project was funded.
The Goal of the QUIPPED project is to create an inter-professional educational environment at Queen’s University that enhances the ability of learners and faculty to provide patient-centred care, while recognizing the contribution of the health care team within a respectful and collaborative framework.
