Clinical/Academic Interests: 

Although currently not engaged in clinical practice in our ICU, Dr. Heyland is a prolific and internationally-renowned researcher in Critical Care.  He has obtained close to $20 million in grants from various peer-reviewed and Industry sources. He has a variety of research interests including end of life care, sepsis, and the interaction between the gastrointestinal tract, infection and nutrition in critical illness.
