OIPEP

Interprofessional Teamwork Huddle

As a result of the overwhelming response for more interprofessional experiences expressed by students who participated in the IP Cafés, OIPEP has organized a new activity directed at immersing upper-level students in IPE. This event includes students from Medicine, Nursing, OT, PT, X-Ray and Psychology.

Purpose

1. To provide an IPE experience at the IMMERSION level of the FHS Framework for Interprofessional Education for upper-year health sciences students.

2. To integrate IPE into the Communicator and Collaborator competencies of the FHS curricula.

3. To provide an opportunity for students from all HS disciplines to engage in IPE through "learning from, with and about each other to improve collaboration and the quality of patient/client-centred care" (CAIPE, 2009).

Format

This event involves small inteprofessional student groups. Each team was given an abbreviated version of the HCTC case scenario.  The groups worked together to collaboratively answer pre-determined questions. The event includes Faculty, student, and patient/client/consumer facilitators. This event is offered on three different days in February. Each student signed up for only one of the three dates available.
