- Dr. Andre K.W. Tan - Head and
Chief of Service
Dr. Andre Tan graduated from Johns Hopkins
University, Baltimore, Maryland, USA in 1985 with a Bachelor of
Science in Biomedical Engineering with concentration in Material
Science and Engineering. He obtained his M.D. degree at McGill
University, Montreal, PQ, Canada in 1989. He then completed his
Otolaryngology training at McGill University in 1994 followed
by a year of fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
at the University of Toronto / American Academy of Facial Plastic
and Reconstructive Surgery. He obtained his FRCSC in Otolaryngolgy
in 1995.
He arrived at Queen's University, Department
of Otolaryngology in November 1995 with the appointment of Assistant
Professor in the School of Medicine.
Dr. Tan's clinical interests include:
- General Otolaryngology
- Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
- Rhinology.
Research interests include:
- Fetal wound healing
- Spousal abuse - Domestic violence research
& education
- Otoacoustic Emission
- Laryngeal imaging for laryngopharyngeal
reflux
- Complications of carbon dioxide laser
resurfacing procedures
Currently, Dr. Tan is involved with the
following research projects:
- Fetal wound healing
- Exposure to domestic violence and attitudes
towards learning
- Habitual snoring and noise induced hearing
loss
