About Us

The John Austin Society (History of Medicine) named for the Queen's Professor of Surgery from 1926 to 1945. It welcomes all Queen's and Kingston community members to our speaker series. We hope you will find our slate of speakers and topics interesting and enlightening, and join us as often as you wish. You may bring guests along as well.

Current President, Dr. Henry Dinsdale.

If you would like to be on the mailing list, please e-mail our secretary Barbara Matthews matthewb@queensu.ca

Free for students and residents!

We also encourage non-students to join the John Austin Society, as noted below, for the very affordable sum of $25.

We generally meet at 5:30 pm at the University Club in the Urquhart Room for a 1-hour talk and question-period.  Those who are interested can stay after for a pay-as-you go dinner if the speaker indicates an interest in staying for dinner.
