Dr. Ellis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine with a cross-appointment to the Department of Microbiology & Immunology. Her role is one of a Clinician Scientist with approximately 75% of her academic portfolio dedicated to research.
Dr. Ellis obtained her MD from Queen's University in 1999, and also trained in Internal Medicine at Queen's. During these years, she was very active in the research program in the Division of Allergy at Kingston General Hospital and gained tremendous knowledge in the conduct of randomized controlled trials due her involvement with the studies conducted at KGH using the Environmental Exposure Unit (EEU - see below). In 2003, she was awarded the John Alexander Stewart Fellowship from the Department of Medicine which allowed her to complete a fellowship year dedicated to Allergy research. She then underwent subspecialty training in Allergy & Clinical Immunology at McMaster University in Hamilton, ON. She was a Clinical Scholar on faculty at McMaster from July 2006 until August 2008, during which time she obtained an MSc in Immunology under the supervision of Dr. Judah Denburg. She joined the Faculty of Health Sciences at Queen's University in August 2008.
