etc Lunchtime Series: Developing Resources for Blended e-learning

On Thursday December 6th, the e-teaching Collaborative (etc) will be hosting the presentation "Developing Electronic Resources for Blended e-learning" in Bracken 127 from 12:30-1:30pm.  This talk will be presented by Amy Allcock, a Web Developer for the MEdTech Unit,  as part of the etc Lunchtime Series. Please bring your own lunch to enjoy while you listen and learn how you can use technology effectively in your teaching.

MedEdPORTAL online training workshops

Learn about MedEdPORTAL from the comfort of your home or office by participating in a 30-minute interactive web conference training workshop.  

Each of the online training workshops will consist of an overview of the MedEdPORTAL system and provide examples of the various types of materials published and available for free to educators and students around the globe.  Participants will learn about the submission and peer review processes as well as the criteria used to evaluate the scholarship of published resources.  The workshops will also address issues associated with intellectual property and explain how MedEdPORTAL staff help potential authors address those issues.  The workshops offer participant interactivity by providing the ability to ask questions and conduct live polling.  Individual communication can also be conducted utilizing a live chat mechanism at the conclusion of the workshop upon request.

The first three MedEdPORTAL online training workshops are scheduled for:

  1. December 5, 2007 at 1:00 PM North American Eastern Standard Time (EST)
  2. January 9, 2008 at 2:00 PM North American Eastern Standard Time (EST)
  3. February 6, 2008 at 3:00 PM North American Eastern Standard Time (EST)

Additional workshops will be announced in February.

A Vision of Students Today

Here is a short yet powerful video summarizing how today's students think, live, and learn, while highlighting areas of our current educational system that have failed to respond to students' needs.  The video was created by professor Michael Wesch in collaboration with 200 students at Kansas State University as a class project.
