Professional Foundations Committee

Terms of Reference

The UGME Professional Foundations Committee (PFC) will act as a sub-committee of the Curriculum Committee.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and oversee curricular content and assessment relevant to the following domains as defined within the Queen’s University UGME Competency Framework (Curricular Goals and Competency Based Objectives – revised Sept., 2011)
    • Professionalism
    • Scholar
    • Communicator
    • Collaborator
    • Advocate
    • Manager
    • Establish and oversee content for the theme of Patient Safety
  • Establish mechanisms to recognize student achievement within these competency domains 

Membership:

  • Curricular Lead, Professionalism
  • Curricular Lead, Scholar Competency
  • Curricular Lead, Communicator Competency
  • Curricular Lead, Collaborator Competency
  • Curricular Lead, Advocacy Competency
  • Curricular Lead, Manager Competency
  • Curricular Lead, Patient Safety
  • Two other faculty members
  • Student Representative(s)
  • Educational Specialist
  • Evaluation Consultant
  • Associate Dean, Undergraduate Medical Education

Chair to be chosen from one of the Curricular Leads 

Meetings

Will be held monthly or at the call of the chair.

Reporting 

The PCCC reports to the Curriculum Committee.  The Chair, or a Designate will be a member of the Curriculum Committee and attend meetings. 

Minutes

Minutes are kept for each meeting. Minutes are circulated to the members of the committee.
