Communicable Diseases Advisory Group

Terms of Reference

Purpose
To support the Communicable Disease Policy by:

•    Reviewing immunization and communicable disease information submitted by medical students
•    Providing support and medical advice to students identified as infected or at risk by the screening process
•    Counseling those students with respect to appropriate career choice
•    Coordinating with the Undergraduate program with regard to curricular modifications that may be required as a result of a student’s infectious status
•    Making recommendations to the Associate Dean Undergraduate Medical Education about the policy and reporting structure at least annually

Membership 
•    A member of clinical faculty expert in the field of Infectious Diseases, who will act as Chair
•    The Undergraduate Program Career Counselor
•    Another member of faculty
•    Faculty Legal Counsel
•    Administrative support

Processes
The Advisory Group meets:

•    at the request of the Chair, or 
•    at the request of the Associate Dean Undergraduate Medical Education

Reporting Structure
This group reports to the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Medical Education and Undergraduate Medical Education Committee.
