Dr. Smith attended medical school at the University of London and worked in the UK for several years before moving to the United States. He completed a 3-year residency in internal medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago Hospital and was a Chief Resident before moving to Cook County Hospital for a fellowship in general internal medicine. He was an Attending Physician there for over 10 years and was intimately involved in the residency training program as an associate program director. He has been recently recruited to Queen's as the new Program Director for the Core Internal Medicine program and performs most of his clinical duties on the internal medicine teaching units (IMU's). His main interests are in medical education, evidence based medicine and clinical skills.

Dr. Joneja attended medical school at Queen’s University and completed her postgraduate training in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology at the University of Western Ontario. She completed a Master of Education Degree from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. She previously was the director of IMG programs at Queen’s University for four years. She is the current Program Director for the Rheumatology residency program. Her interests include postgraduate medical education, communication skills and teaching in the clinical setting.
