Division of Gastoenterology

The Division of Gastroenterology offers subspecialty training in Gastroenterology that is fully approved by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC). Successful graduates are normally eligible to sit the RCPSC examinations for Certificates of Special Competence in Gastroenterology. The traditional clinical program is 2 years. The research oriented trainee may wish to pursue additional research training during a third year as a Canadian Institutes of Health (CIHR)–funded Gastrointestinal Disease Research Unit (GIDRU) research trainee. This program is designed with sufficient flexibility to enable the development of skills essential for either clinical community-based practice or an academic research career.
