Denise Cameron

Denise CameronIt is far too difficult to adequately delineate here all the things that Denise Cameron does on a daily basis that exceed the expectations and demands of her job.

Beginning 23 years ago as a secretary in the Biology Department, Mrs. Cameron’s dedication and professionalism helped cultivate positive and productive work environment and underpinned the success of a number of research programs in Biology. This included completion of book manuscripts for a prominent Biology Faculty member for publication near the end of his life and posthumously. Following brief appointments as Department and Graduate Program Assistant in the School of Physical and Health Education, and later as Office Assistant in the Athletics Department, Denise worked as Administrative Secretary in the Office of the University Registrar. In late 2007, Denise became a central figure within the Biochemistry Department, where she quickly gained respect for her outstanding organizational skills, positive demeanor, and commitment to undergraduate education. Her attentiveness to student issues and vast knowledge of Undergraduate and Graduate Degree programs has averted many potential disasters for successful degree completion that could have easily slipped through the cracks in a less vigilant system.

One comment from a supporting letter was:
“One cannot place a value on what Denise Cameron brings to Queen’s. She is truly an inspiration and source of positive energy for faculty, administrative staff, and students alike. Awarding her the prestigious Queen’s Special Recognition for Staff Award for her many monumental contributions to the welfare of our strong academic community is the least that we can do to reflect upon our appreciation of her. As such, it is without hesitation or trepidation that I provide my highest recommendation for Denise Cameron for the Queen’s Special Recognition for Staff Award for 2011.”

Best wishes
