Creating a Narrated PowerPoint

Using a PowerPoint with narration is a great way to present foundational learning material traditionally delivered in a lecture to students in a secure and efficient manner. Adding narration to your PowerPoint files does not require any additional software and all you need to get started is a quiet room and a microphone. Once the narrated presentation is converted in to a web-based format (a free service provided by the MEdTech Unit) it can be accessed by students regardless of time and location, allowing them to prepare for in-class session and to review material afterwards.

Instructions for Creating a Narrated PowerPoint

1. Add narration to your PowerPoint presentation

2. Send your PowerPoint file with narration to MEdTech

  • Put your PowerPoint file on a CD or DVD (the file will be too large to send via email)
  • Send or deliver the file to Lynel Jackson from the MEdTech Unit (located in Abramsky Hall, 21 Arch Street, Room 222)
  • Email a photo of yourself to be used in the Presenter pane to lynel.jackson@queensu.ca

3. Distribute web address of presentation to students

  • You will receive an email with the web address of your published presentation and you can use this web address to send to students
