The regional breast screening clinic in Kingston offers screening for breast lumps to women in the general population, without referral.

Over the course of 1 month, 800 women are screened via a physical examination of the breast. 100 of these women have a palpable lump identified upon screening, and of these 20 are later diagnosed with breast cancer. An additional 5 women without palpable lumps are also diagnosed with breast cancer.
