On the PA radiograph, the radiocarpal joint (1), the midcarpal joint (2), and the carpometacarpal joints (3) are seen in profile. The apposing joint margins should appear parallel and approximately 1-2 mm apart. Significant widening (4) of any of these joint spaces suggests a displacement of one of the bones.
