Step 2: Palpate artery and clean

  1. Palpate the radial artery with the index and middle fingers of the non-dominant hand.  The radial artery is located and easily palpated just radial to the flexor carpi radialis tendon at the wrist.
  2. An alcohol swab is used to clean the skin prior to puncture.
